Peace Musiimenta, a professional teacher, Senior Lecturer and researcher in the School of Women and Gender Studies, Makerere University. She holds a PhD in Gender studies, Masters in Women Studies, a bachelor’s degree in Arts with education-all from Makerere University, and a certificate in Professional Development Programme for Gender Trainers from KIT (Netherlands). Peace was hosted as a Guest researchers’ scholarship programme awardee at the Nordic Africa Institute (NAI), Sweden Sept –Dece2022 working on her project titled Masculinities revisited: change, continuities and fractures in Western Uganda. Peace’s research interests include gender and agriculture, women’s socio-economic empowerment, gender and education, children and family issues and masculinity studies among others. Peace’s recent project titled Towards transformative gender studies pedagogy for challenging power relations and dominance in academia is funded Andrew W. Mellon Foundation of New York is part of the projects under the Center of Excellence in Research, Teaching and Learning (CERTL). Peace holds several positions in society including but not limited to; Chairing the Women of Uganda Network (WOUGNET) Board, Heading the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS) E-learning department; member of College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Research Ethics Committee (CAES REC), Member of national Association for Women’s Action for Development (NAWAD) Board of Directors, Mentoring for the MasterCard scholarship beneficiaries at Makerere University as well as several other students in different Universities in Uganda; she is passionate about supporting young people to discover themselves. Currently, Peace is on sabbatical leave and hosted by African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD), Nairobi, Kenya as an Adjunct Research Scientist from 1st August 2024 to July 31st, 2025.
