RFA GRANT AWARDEES

The Digital Health Payment Initiative and Research in Africa (DHPI-R), a project supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and implemented at Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH) and Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar (UCAD) in Senegal, is excited to introduce the recipients of its eagerly awaited OPEN CALL FOR REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS (RFA) that was disseminated on August, 8th 2022. These individuals demonstrated remarkable potential in advancing the adoption and application of Digital Financial Service (DFS) innovations within the health sector of low-and-middle-income countries (LMICs) in sub-Saharan Africa.

Following an intense evaluation process, the DHPI-R committee proudly presents the grant awardees, who will play a pivotal role in addressing crucial evidence gaps related to digital payments for campaign healthcare workers. These esteemed researchers will explore various dimensions of digital health and financial services, ultimately contributing to improved health outcomes and increased financial inclusivity across sub-Saharan Africa.

These individuals have been selected to lead groundbreaking research studies focusing on:

  1. Campaign Effectiveness
  2. Digital Financial Services’ effects on financial inclusion, safety, and security of payments
  3. Health worker performance and retention
  4. Payment experience and financial behavior
